They say it’s a small world. Well with advances in technology, particularly that relating to communication and travel, it’s only getting smaller. Today, it’s never been easier for the world’s farmers to share ideas, expertise and farming practices. So what lessons can we learn from our international counterparts when it comes to making good quality, nutritious silage?
MoreA. Count how many revolutions it takes to cover the bale, at this point add one and then double the total. Four layers have then been applied. For six layers increase the total by 50%.
Strength
Polybale takes into account the fact that agricultural machinery, climatic conditions and life on a farm in general can be tough on a balewrapping film. Its use of carefully selected polymers and its multi-layer construction ensure superior levels of strength and a greater resistance to rips and tears.
Puncture resistance
No one wants to invest the time, effort and energy into creating a silage bale only to have it spoilt by a puncture in the balewrapping film. As such punctures can compromise a balewrap's airtight seal in turn hampering the ensiling process or leading to white mould growth, Polybale has been specially formulated to provide optimum puncture resistance.
High tack
Polybale benefits from a high tack level on both sides of the film. This helps to eliminate long ‘tails’ as any trailing, cut ends of film left after wrapping can simply be stuck to the bale. These tack characteristics also contribute to an enhanced oxygen barrier which ensures a more effective ensiling process. Each layer of film applied to the bale adheres to the layer next to it, building up an increasingly airtight seal as you wrap.
Come rain or shine, Polybale excels. In particular, it benefits from in-built UV protection which reduces film degradation when exposed to strong or direct sunlight. Thanks to these all climate capabilities, Polybale has gained impressive popularity with farmers and agricultural contractors not just in the UK, but in mainland Europe and further afield.
